Finally much awaited results of GATE 2016 organised by IISC bangalore was out today evening.The controversy regarding wrong questions in SET1 and high difficulty level of SET-2 was dealt with ease by IISC.
The SET-1 guys benefited from MTA (marks to all) despite a negative normalisation,while SET-3 guys didn't face any change in marks due to normalisation at all.Meanwhile, despite the increased difficulty level of SET-2 ,AIR 1 is from that very set.They were rewarded 8-10 marks extra.

Our previous attempts at GATE 2015 failed horribly,but we didn't give up hope and here we are ,standing tall with good gate scores.
We believe that " You can do anything as long as you have the passion, the drive, the focus, and the support ".

ReplyI hope I have friends to keep me motivated like I guess you did to each other. I have gotten a rank of 704 and what are my odds with that? What is the best institute/course I can get? Thanks for any advise.
ReplyAlso, I am considering doing a second attempt. I am pretty good with Signals, Circuits - Analog and Digital and Communication. But, I am absolute shit at EMT and EDC. Do you have any advise at all for me to get good in these subjects? Thank you very much.

ReplyI would want you to go for the second attempt :GATE 2017,you have all the chances to get AIR below 150.Also self study is the perfect option with all materials available online.
Start your preparation right away ,and that too with EMT!.Conquer it first.
Refer my post on EMTfor materials and references.Always make your own notes as they turn out very useful during revision.
For EDC,watch lecture by KARMALKAR sir to gain more insight into the topic.Keep track of the formulas and most importantly the path you took to get that specific formula! Be very clear with PN junction (milman halkias ),BJT,Mos capacitors and fabrication.
With your current AIR 704,try for IIT Guwahati and NIT trichy and Warangal.

Start your prepartion,once you are ready with all materials and decide on which standard text you are going to base your preparation on.
I would recommend you to start with EMT as the syllabus is bit vast.Refer DAVID K CHENG and Sadiku for all topics in GATE syllabus and prepare your notes.Also look for short cuts from made easy and Ace class notes i have uploaded.Once you are done with notes and have understood concepts clearly (for which you should solve problems in parallel while you prepare notes),keep revising during weekends.

ReplyPlease enlist the complete order for all the subjects starting with emt( as you said).
Is it right to do 2 subjects simultaneously? Last time I found my preparation to be a slow one with one subject at a time even though I was enjoying studying the subject. As a result I couldn’t complete all the subjects. If so, which subjects can be done simultaneously?
Please point out the changes you made in your preparation which were quite different from your previous preparation. I have got a rank of 12k this year, so I want to recognize and improve upon my mistakes.

ReplyFirst of all enlist your weak and strong subjects first.Then start with the one that you are most weak in.Remember this subject is weak for you because either you got irritated to it right from college ,probably because of bad teaching there.
Start with EMT if you find it in the category of medium-hard from your point of view.Take around 1 month (at maximum ) for covering every topic in gate syllabus by preparing your own notes.
Regarding the slowdown in pace,everyone faces that phase soon after few days of continuous and sharp days of studies.Best approach to tackle it would be to stay active in FB Gate groups (answering questions ) and also solving problems in the subject you are currently preparing (buy kanodia 10 vol set for problems).
Make sure you allot weekends to revise your notes on the previous subject you had completed.

Replysir please suggest me,i wrote gate exam from past 2years but i score less around 40 how can i improve my score .till now i used to study madeeasy&ace meterials ,for problem solving i used kanodia. u followed standard textbooks for eah subject
